Russia, North Korea unveil border bridge construction project

(MENAFN) Russia and North Korea are poised to begin construction of a road bridge linking the two nations, according to Moscow's ambassador to Pyongyang.

Aleksandr Matsegora, in an interview with a Russian news agency, stated, “I hope that soon we will witness the ceremonial start of construction of this, without exaggeration, the most significant and important, from a practical point of view, object of bilateral cooperation in all the recent decades.”

While construction has not yet commenced, Matsegora indicated that both countries are engaged in preparatory work, including finalizing design documentation and organizing construction teams and equipment. "However, we do not have long to wait," he asserted.

The ambassador also suggested that numerous other "promising" two-sided projects are in development, with details to be disclosed in the near future.

This milestone comes in the wake of a broad strategic partnership agreement signed between Russia and North Korea in June 2024, marking President Vladimir Putin's first visit to the country in over two decades.
